My Mom

I just wanted to update everyone. At about 1 am on Monday, my mom was taken to the ER for shortness of breath. My brother had seen her earlier that day and she was fine and I talked to her at 6pm and she was fine. No on had any idea that she was sick. The doctors in the ER had to resuscitate her two or three times; they eventually stabilized her enough to be moved to ICU. Her heart stopped again shortly after they moved her. They were able to resuscitate her again, but told us that she had a very severe infection and that there was some sort of bacteria that was eating at her lungs, which caused the breathing problems, and because of her low oxygen levels, she went into cardiac arrest. No one has been able to tell us yet where the infection originated from, but no one, including my mom knew that she was sick. About 5 hours after she was resuscitated in the ICU, she coded again and they brought her back one last time but her vitals were not nearly as strong as the times before and as the doctor was talking to us, she coded again and had a massive heart attack and they couldn't resuscitate her a final time. We all got to talk to her, even though she couldn't respond, she could hear us. My dad died 9 years and one day earlier of a hereditary heart condition. Their wedding anniversary is today. The funeral is tentatively planned for Friday at 11 am at First Baptist Church of Irving. I will update with the final plans and instead of flowers, we are asking that people make a donation to the American Diabetes Association in her name, Marcia Owen. I will try to provide that information tomorrow, as well. Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers.
